Merapi Disaster Part II; MEMOIRS OVER VANISHING CHEERS

It has become my dreams to visit Merapi since I was assigned to be on duty in Adi Soemarmo airport in Solo for 42 days. No matter what it takes, as long as I can return safe I should be there and witness the damage caused by her eruption.

Still in Gendol River ( Kali Gendol ) I found a junior high school was destroyed by her gigantic fervency. With tons of volcanic ashes and rocks, it pulverized everything that standing on her way, leaving a massive damage and destroy everything. Not excepted the cheers of the children who used to be sitting there and listening the teacher, or chasing their dream to be the little Habibie, Michael Jordan, or at least their dreams to be well educated farmer. Now it all vanished with their houses or even with their beloved people and forced to graved their imagination along their fate to live on a refugee camps.

I photographed how the dreams and cheers vanished over the school detritus. I'VE BEEN THERE, AND PLEASE DONT BE THERE !!!

Hey...who's on duty to clean up the window today?

The tree we used to play around

even weeks after eruption the soil still on fire

Knock knock..who's there ? not any children anymore

the chairs...the memories...

Tons of volcanic materials inside classroom

My school vanished

The end of Little Michel Jordan's Dream

No more little Habbie studying here...

Many special thanks to Eko Prasetya, R-lin Van Hosten, Agnes Yustina, and Kakanda Cok Anom Bagor for their dedication to lift me ther.

SUNDAY MORNING IN GAJAH MADA UNIVERSITY STREET CAMPUS

I was fortunate being in Jogja on Sunday. I was told a day earlier to visit Sunday Morning market (Sunmor) around Gajah Mada university. I wasn't very much interested in the beggining. All that I imagine was the crowd over the seller and buyer -  a market over campus area.

But somehow me and three other  friends decide to went there, and surprisingly I saw an absurd situation where you won't believe your eyes, that one of the most famous university in Indonesia, turned into a market on its main street. Thousands poeple involved in the crowd and seem to me they've been enjoying their selves to find goods or various culinary.

Some of them may not be interested in buying something. They prefer to held a gathering or just to have some excercise, entertaining kids, or walk the dog. Anyway it's good for the campus and local government to allow such activity. I prefered to call this as 'all in one Sunday morning' ; shopping, selling, excercising, and refreshing spot. If you are in Jogja, or plan to go someday, have your time to enjoy the time on Sunday Morning Market.

I photographed some pictures and please take the time to see it. My regards to Cok Anom, Yustina, and Raka for your assistance.

Merapi Disaster

The most active volcano, this is what people will concern when we're talking about Merapi Volcano. During September - Now, Merapi has erupting for so many times killed at least two hundred people, while hundreds more remain missing could be burried under the lava or volcano material. And left other thousands people left their houses within radius 20 kilometres from the mountain and stayed in refugee camps provided by the governments.

I've been so fortunate able to find an access  to Kali Gendol (Gendol River) and capture some images. Many special thanks to My friends Eko Prasetya, Rlin Van Hosten, Agnes Yustina Purnama, and Kakanda Cok Anom Bagor for helping me in through the police blockade.
